I just received my Pottery Barn Carlisle Sofa (grand sofa, not the sectional). I waited 6 weeks for delivery.

It is just like the one pictured here and mine is Metal Gray Textured Twill. I must say I was a bit disillusioned with the photo on Pottery Barnโ€™s website in comparison to my actual sofa. It is MUCH firmer than I expected, almost too hard. The textured twill fabric color and feel is nice and pretty much as pictured, though it seems just like denim.

What bothered me is the โ€œGrandโ€ sofa did not some so โ€œgrandโ€ in size at all or as deep as I had hoped and expected. I had to remove the back cushions which are very awkwardly sized and not like the picture on PB website. They are shorter and not wide enough to meet in the middle or the edges of the sofa and they are very FAT so that they take up half the seating space. They look very awkward, too large to be โ€œthrow pillowsโ€ and too small and fat to be the pillow backs for the sofa.

The one pictured on PB website shows big almost square back cushions that completely cover the back of the sofa and stand up a few inches higher in the back covering the back completely and looking properly balanced, also not so fat as to take up half the seat area. This is a false depiction and is not what you are getting and you will be disappointed most likely if you were expecting a nice, deep sofa, unless you remove the back cushions then the back is very hard and you have to use throw pillows. The grand sofa is barely bigger then the standard size 86โ€ณ wide sofa I had before and not nearly as comfortable. I almost wish I had just gotten a cheaper one instead.

Iโ€™m sure it wouldโ€™ve been more comfortable. This sofa is nice looking as far as just looks are concerned but it is in reality, about a $600 sofa and it is NOT as pictured on their website. The back cushions ruin the look of the sofa.

They are not the correct size or proportion for the back and seating area! PB is ripping people off on this one

Reason of review: Not as described/ advertised.

Monetary Loss: $800.

Location: Loretto, Tennessee

I am glad I saw this, was just about to buy this same sofa. Not going to now!

I have the same sofa and the exact same problem with the back pillows. They look horrendous.

I reached out to Pottery Barn and they were unwilling to do anything about it.

Very unfortunate since every piece of furniture I have ever bought came from PB. Never again.

I purchased a Carlisle Grand Sofa in late 2012. 6 months later, after posting a negative review on the Pottery Barn website complaining that the material had pilled and seat cushions had flattened in that short period of time, I was offered a replacement sofa with upgraded cushions and material at no cost.

They also replaced our matching chair. I received amazingly good customer service on the part of Pottery Barn, but the replacement product was of equally poor quality. I am sorry to report that we still own the sofa which now squeaks when you sit on it, has flat cushions (although I occasionally fluff the down filling), and the material pilled just as quickly as the first sofa we bought and, after 6 years, it is considerably worse.

A couple years after buying this bad sofa, I vowed I would never purchase another one from Pottery Barn. It's really too bad, because I have purchased other furniture and rugs from Pottery Barn which has held up very well.

I tried it in store and it was the most comfortable, but it was not when they delivered it. The cushions are big hunks of foam and I paid extra for down, which is just an 1/8 of an inch on top.

Very sorry I paid $1789 for this very uncomfortable sofa. Will not buy anything from them again.

The polyester cushions are garbage. Called customer service about how quickly they compressed on our PB sectional after only 4 mo.

and were told we could order the foam wrapped down ones to replace. Zero responsibility as the sectional was a "promotional" product...NO WONDER.

Did you purchase the foam wrapped down or the poyester cushions? I'm wondering how it's holding up? Thanks

The couch is so uncomfortable. Total waste of money.

Would feel bad to give it away.

So disappointed. Wish I could take it back
